Dr. Hansen began her medical career in the Army National Guard as a Medic and Emergency Technician Basic, volunteering for university sporting events.
After completing her 4-year undergraduate training at The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, she attended St. George’s University School of Medicine, where she completed clerkship training at Cornell.
She graduated with her Doctor of Medicine (M.D) degree Summa Cum Laude in 2012 and went on to complete her 4-year Psychiatry Residency at the University of Florida.
After graduation, Dr. Hansen was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. With a fascination for integrated medicine, she began her career as a traveling doctor serving as the Behavioral Health Director for several Alaskan Native Villages.
Melinda Hansen, M.D. specializes in an integrative medical approach and coordinates care with all providers you are working with. She also has experience with medical acupuncture and weight loss management.
Dr. Hansen is committed to an integrative mental and physical well-being approach beyond prescribing medications for treating mental health issues.
For her treatment method, she prefers a “less is more” medication approach. This includes a full psychotherapy and medical work-up to ensure there are no medical reasons for psychiatric symptoms, including vitamin deficiencies.
